The site is here to help you find licensed assisted living and residential care homes and to understand how they are regulated.

Information only, not advice

Nothing on this site is medical, legal or financial advice. Our guides explain how care homes and the rules around them work in general. They can’t tell you what is right for your parent.

For decisions about care, health, money or legal arrangements, talk to a qualified professional, such as your parent’s doctor, an elder law attorney or a benefits counselor.

A listing is not an endorsement

We list homes because they appear in public state licensing records as “licensed” or “on probation.” Being listed does not mean we have visited a home, checked its quality or approve of it. We don’t recommend specific homes.

Check before you rely on it

Listings come from state data, and that data can be out of date. A home’s status, capacity or contact details may have changed since the state last published its file, or since we last refreshed ours.

Before you make any decision, confirm the details directly with the facility and with the state licensing agency. Visit in person. The data sources page shows where our data comes from and how current it is.

We work to keep the site accurate, but we can’t promise that every detail is complete, current or error-free.

Some pages link to websites run by others, such as state agencies. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date on this page shows when they last changed. If you keep using the site after an update, the new terms apply.
