What we collect

You can browse the directory and read our guides without telling us who you are. We use Google Analytics to count visits, which is described below.

We only collect details when you send a message through the contact form or the claim or correction form. Those forms ask for:

  • your name
  • your email address
  • a phone number, if you choose to give one
  • your message
  • for claims and corrections, the license number of the facility

How we use it

We use what you send for two things: to reply to you, and, for claims and corrections, to check the listing in question.

We never sell your information. We don’t share it with any facility, and we don’t pass it to anyone else.

Where it is stored

Form submissions are stored in our database on Cloudflare. A copy of each message is delivered to the Hospice for Choices editorial team by email through Web3Forms, a form delivery service, so we can read and answer it.

Spam protection

Our forms use automated checks to block spam submissions.

Cookies and site analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people visit and which features they use, such as calling a home or getting directions. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives information such as the pages you view, your approximate location and your device type. We have turned off Google signals and ad personalization, and we don’t use advertising cookies.

You can block Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser. The directory works the same either way.

Deleting your messages

You can ask us to delete the messages you’ve sent. Make the request through the contact form and tell us which email address you used, so we can find them.

Changes to this policy

When we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and its “last updated” date.
